2024 Order Awarding PARRIS $3.1M in Attorneys’ Fees
Alexander R. Wheeler is a partner at PARRIS Law Firm.
Wheeler is a trial lawyer whose practice spans personal injury, wrongful death, defamation, business litigation, and class action cases. Wheeler’s work has been recognized through numerous awards and over a dozen published appellate opinions. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge recently lauded his “superior experience, skill, and ability” compared to other Los Angeles attorneys. He stands up for individuals who have been injured, cheated, or defrauded, and he handles cases from the moment a client reaches out for help, all the way through appellate proceedings in state and federal court.
Since joining PARRIS in 2007, Wheeler has recovered well over $700 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients. In 2024, he obtained a $58-million-dollar jury verdict in a workplace injury trial. In 2023, he was part of a trial team that secured a $20 million verdict for the family of a woman who was fatally injured by a drunk driver. He also obtained a $10.6 million wrongful death verdict for the parents of two brothers who were killed by another drunk driver in 2021.
In 2018, Wheeler helped land a $41.6 million jury verdict for the severely injured victim of an auto collision, which the defendant’s insurance company agreed to pay in full. The same year, Wheeler reached a $10.5 million settlement with the City of Bakersfield on behalf of a teenage client who was injured by a truck while walking across a poorly designed crosswalk. Early in his career, Wheeler was part of a trial team that secured $370 million on behalf of workers who suffered defamation and emotional distress at the hands of Guess? Inc. founder Georges Marciano.
Wheeler’s trial, litigation, and appellate work has been covered by the Los Angeles Times, Law360, the Los Angeles Daily Journal, and the Bakersfield Californian. The Daily Journal named Wheeler one of California’s “Top Plaintiffs’ Lawyers” in 2022. Wheeler has made the Southern California “Super Lawyers” list every year since 2019 and was designated a Super Lawyers Southern California “Rising Star” from 2012 to 2018. He also received Pepperdine Law School’s Young Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018 and was designated Antelope Valley Bar Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2009 and 2014.
Wheeler serves on the Board of Directors of Penny Lane Centers, a nonprofit that cares for neglected individuals and families and is on the Board of Advisors for Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law, where he studied law. Wheeler frequently speaks at Pepperdine as well as at CLE conferences on topics related to trial persuasion, depositions, and trial practice.
