$3M Construction Worker Settlement
PARRIS Law Firm obtained a $3 million construction worker class action settlement on behalf of hourly-paid employees that worked for a Kern County construction company that contracts with oil companies to provide oil field construction, maintenance, piping, and welding services.
All of the construction worker employees were required to meet at a work yard prior to being given their work assignments and being sent to work at off-site oil field locations. They were not paid for the half hour they spent working at the yard before being sent to the oil fields. Additionally, they were not paid for they time they spent driving back to the yard and performing post-shift work at the yard.
On some rainy days they were required to report for work at the yard, perform their pre-shift duties, and then were sent home with no pay for the day.Â
Other notable PARRIS class action settlements on behalf of hourly-paid workers include a $29.5 million class action settlement against a major home improvement company and a $7.8 million settlement against a chicken processing plant.
