Food Production Worker Settlement
PARRIS attorneys obtained a $3.325 million food production worker class action settlement against a turkey slaughter and processing facility in Fresno County, California.
The food production workers were routinely not provided with legally compliant meal and rest periods, and were not paid all of their wages for overtime and off-the-clock work.
The employer required all of the food production workers to clean, put on, and take off personal protective equipment. Workers were also required to sanitize knives before and after their scheduled shift and before and after their meal breaks. The workers were not paid for this time worked before and after their shifts, and were not paid premiums for their missed and non-compliant meal periods.
Other notable PARRIS class action settlements on behalf of hourly-paid workers include a $29.5 million class action settlement against a major home improvement company and a $7.8 million settlement against a chicken processing plant.
